Centricity Update 2/17

Posted February 17, 2011 by in Marketing, Radio, Touring

Greetings from the third floor of the Centricity house in beautiful downtown Franklin. The view here is pretty nice as there are old buildings filled with history and stories all around us. Lately much of what we see out or slender windows has been hidden by constant snowfall. But this week has been perfect giving us a glimpse of what is ahead.

Sometimes what we do at the label is so hidden and behind the scenes that we can’t see what we are dong. But some days are like today, where you can see the fruits of our labor. Today we can see the labor of Rebekah  as the new Centricity Music site has launched. After hours-and-hours of brainstorming, working with the designers and programmers the site is live. Check it out at www.centricitymusic.com

On to the latest updates…

Andrew Peterson                  www.andrew-peterson.com

• Andrew wrote a great blog. Here is a taste:

Art, if it can be ascribed value, is most valuable when its beauty (and the beauty of the truth it tells) bewilders, confounds, defies evil itself; it does so by making what has been unmade; it subverts the spirit of the age; it mends the heart by whispering mysteries the mind alone can’t fathom; it fulfills its highest calling when into all the clamor of Hell it tells the unbearable, beautiful, truth that Christ has died, Christ is risen, and Christ will come again.

I heard the song “Pray You Through” on WAY-FM last night and it really hit me hard. I’m a senior in college and my dad was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of December. Coming back to school this semester has been really hard. I’m a pretty strong Christian but this completely blindsided me. I am blessed to have awesome friends, though, who will listen to me and be patient with me when I am having a hard day. To know that people are praying for me and are on my side has been the one thing that has supported me through these last two months.

About The Author: Steve Ford

Steve Ford started as an engineer at LA's famed Mama Jo's studio before crossing over to the dark side: marketing. After a stint in artist development and A&R at Sparrow working with Steven Curtis Chapman, BeBe & CeCe Winans, and Out of the Gray, Ford moved onto Star Song and later Myrrh, marketing records by Newsboys, Fernando Ortega, and Amy Grant. He served as general manager at inpop records, signing Superchic(k) and Shane & Shane; he started INO's rock imprint SRE, where he worked with Skillet, Flyleaf, Disciple, and Decypher Down. At Centricity, Ford oversees all aspects of sales and marketing, including radio, packaging, and hair product endorsements. Ford lists racquetball and "books" as his hobbies, which occupy what free time isn't spent discovering obscuro new music.
